The agricultural production faces limitations due to the steep slopes and their fragmentation, focusing primarily on garden cultivation and the cultivation of the world's northernmost tea in Ostrovskaya Shchel village and Shahumyan village.

At the heart of Tuapse lies a seaport with terminals for oil, coal, and grain, along with a terminal for handling chemical fertilizers.

The district is known for its emphasis on family and children’s leisure activities and health enhancement, with facilities such as sanatoriums and resorts. This economic sector is mostly situated along the Black Sea coast.

Along the coastline, there is the federal highway (A147) connecting Dzhubga to Sochi, as well as the Tuapse to Sochi railway. These transportation routes play a crucial role in linking Russia to the Black Sea coast and the neighboring countries of the Caucasus. The federal highway experiences heavy traffic, particularly during the summer months, with up to 1,400 cars per hour traveling at an average speed of 15 km/h, leading to long traffic jams. Both cars and trains are vital for transporting tourists to the resort area, supporting recreational activities.
